Changing
Times - Changing Strategies
The rules
are changing. Starting a business two years ago was very different
from starting one today. But the pent up demand for unleashing
new technologies has never been stronger.
The DaVinci
Institute is a trusted source of thought leadership in businesses
development for emerging innovators. The RMSA is the local club
for Stanford University, whose alumni are highly active in Front
Range economic activity, both as entrepreneurs and investors.
Together, we have assembled an amazing team of talent to speak
at this event.
Did
You Know That...
- 70% of
new businesses launched in the US are being launched by women
- Having
2 or more people on the startup team more than doubles the odds
that a business will succeed
- Between
20 and 30 percent of new startups close during their first year
- More than
11.3 percent of adults in the United States were engaged in
entrepreneurial activity in 2003, up 10.5 percent from 2002
- An estimated
300 million people around the globe tried to launch businesses
in 2003
- More than
80 percent of entrepreneurs in 41 countries said they expected
their businesses to create jobs once they were more established
- The majority
of startup companies rely on family members for money
- Fewer than
37 of every 100,000 startups received venture capital money
